Map WIPs, Campaign Playtest, Card Art, and Hero Portraits (Plus: Art Contest!)

FacebookTwitterGoogle+Share

Hey all!

The Stoneborne DLC is slowly coming together, and we’d like to remind those who haven’t sent in their survey responses yet to do so by the end of this week! We need all the names for the territories, kingdoms, maps, and heroes so we can write them into the game.

If you tuned it to yesterday’s livestream on our Twitch channel, we’ve already put in some of the underground maps (but no decals yet) and have started on the Stoneborne campaign levels.

We’ll continue to tweak and adjust these maps and campaigns before the actual release.

You’ll see that some of the new cards (Stoneborne-specific and generic ones) are already working quite well in the game.

Meanwhile, we are also polishing some of the portraits for the Cavespawn heroes and units.

Speaking of art, we have just launched the Callasia Art Challenge! We are inviting artists to create fanart based on the world of Callasia for a chance to win cash prizes and free copies of the game. First WIPs must be submitted on or before September 23 via Discord. The full mechanics are posted here: legends.boomzap.com/contests/

Also, watch out for our iPad launch and tournament next week!

For comments and suggestions, just send us a PM on our social media pages. You can also email us at legends@boomzap.com or contact us through the in-game Feedback button.

Patch Notes v1.0.2.12 – In-Game Encyclopedia and Card Changes

We just updated Legends of Callasia to v1.0.2.12. This update contains a bunch of changes to card usability as we’re now allowing Reinforce and “Battle” (those that affect battles) cards to be played on Allies. We’ve also added an In-Game Encyclopedia where you can view Hero, Units, Cards, and Structure information without having to go in a game.

Patch Notes v1.0.2.12

  • General
    • Added In-Game Encyclopedia. The Encyclopedia contains Hero, Units, Cards, and Structure data and can be accessed from the Main Menu.
  • Cards
    • All Reinforce cards (including Creeping Death) can now be played on Ally’s Heroes. If you and your ally are using different races, the card automatically converts the units to the recipient’s race (i.e. A Faeborne player uses a Reinforce Phoenixes on a Revenant ally, the Revenant ally gets Wyverns instead of Phoenixes).
    • Cards that directly affect battles can now also be played on Allies. Below is the list of affected cards.
      • Rallying Cry
      • Flaming Missiles
      • Shieldbearers
      • Fine Armor
      • Raise The Dead
      • Forced March
      • Trample
      • Charge
  • Other Adjustments
    • Improved Network Turn Synching.
    • Possible fix for Player orders being dropped. If you still encounter this issue after this patch, please send us an In-Game Feedback or email us atlegends@boomzap.com.
    • Fixed the visual bug for Starting Gold that occurred when changing Player Color.
    • Adjusted Hero, Card, and Structure description for better messaging.
    • Miscellaneous bug fixes and network optimizations.

New Beta Build (now with Mac!)

We have just released a new beta build, with the following changes:

  • New large, six-player map!
  • A new merchant profession has been introduced, along with a host of new character traits and cards.
  • The card encyclopedia allows you to view all in-game cards to help you plan out your strategy.
    Improved and streamlined tutorial map.
  • Mac build now playable.
  • Miscellaneous improvements and bug fixes.

You can download them below with complete instructions here:

Aside from the new Mac build, we’ve also set-up Android set up over the holidays and will be available once tested by QA. And, because the community has shown an interest in it, we’re also working on a Linux version to be released later.

Thank you for all the press that we have been getting. Please keep your comments and suggestions coming, and hope you’ll continue to share our project to your friends! Again thank you to everyone who has been supporting Legends of Callasia!

New Beta Build, Card Guide, Gameplay Videos, and Art Interview

We have just released a new beta build, with the following changes:

  • The skirmish screen has been streamlined, giving more useful options when starting a game and removing less useful options. Your starting position is now based on your selected colour unless the Random start position option is checked. Players can vie for the same position, and the actual positions will be assigned randomly.
  • The end of game screen has been improved, showing the game statistics once the game session has ended.
  • We have added a system of tooltips which let you gain quick tips on certain interface elements, such as the army order buttons. Simply click and hold (tap and hold on iOS) to see information on the specific button.
  • Terrain modifiers have been streamlined to a single defensive percentile modifier.
  • You can now queue up movement across several turns by dragging your hero around the map. As you do so, the number of turns necessary to reach the desired destination will be shown. Once you have committed your hero to the path, you can always cancel his orders and give him new ones.
  • A reject notice is now given in the chat window when a player rejects your game invitation.
  • When winning by Victory Points, you are required to hold your VPs for 3 turns now.
  • Miscellaneous improvements and bug fixes.

You can download them below with complete instructions here:

By the way, if you’re having trouble choosing a hero or faction, here’s a quick card guide. We’re still working on implementing this in-game, but hope this screenshot helps for now.

Thank you as well to all the new press we’ve been getting, including this interview with our artists Edwin, Jaq, and Jun on Xmashed Gear. Check it out to see some concept art and WIPs of our heroes!

Please keep your comments and suggestions coming, and hope you’ll continue to share our project to your friends! We have currently reached over $4000, but still a long way until we complete our goal. And again, please do vote for us on Greenlight.
